We will work together for about one hour, depending on the number of participants.
We will begin with a brief introduction to the art of gilding, in which we will introduce you to the materials and decorative techniques by which you can understand the historical placements of the object.
We will explain how gouache and mission gilding works and give some hints about the techniques of restoration of gilded and lacquered wooden works.
For the practical part, you will get to try mission gilding of a small wooden object of Florentine manufacture and its subsequent aging. The wooden object provided by the school for rehearsal will be given to you free of charge as a memento of your visit.
The course times listed are approximate; it is possible to take the course in the morning or in the afternoon.
The cost shown is for the workshop for one person. If you are in a group of several people send a message for an experience with a tailored price. Children can participate in the presence of their parents.
We are closed during the month of August.

SECRETS OF A TAILOR
Rossella, tailoring
Do you know how many stitches there are within a jacket??Do you think they all are the same?? Well, to create a tailor-made jacket you have to do five different typologies of stitches! If you are curious about which ones they are and how to realize them, I will invite you to my Atelier. Here you will find out, through needle and thread, the “Punto Mosca”, “Soppunto”, “Punto Strega” and the “Punto Invisibile”, which are the bedrocks of the handmade needlecraft!

HOW TO MAKE A HAT
Renato, milliner
Not many people know how to make a hat, which are the steps to get to the final product, creating it by hand, with the help of a few tools, an object that will be appreciated by those who recognize the true craftsmanship. We will show you the whole process, from the wooden shape to the finished hat. The experience will last about one hour.

LEARN ABOUT THE INLAY CRAFT
Renato, inlayer
During this 2 hours visit inside the old workshop, you will learn about the intaglio carving craft, appreciating especially the technique commonly known as "foro-controforo". You will participate in a practical demonstration during which all the various traditional stages of production will be displayed: we will start with the preparation of woods before going through the cut stage carried out with a small arch, then we will proceed with the assembly and sandblasting just before the glueing and then finish with the French polishing. Moreover, we will discuss about other inlay techniques such as the so-called "a toppo" and "a buio".
