BASICS OF WEAVING (27/02/2017)
My name is Milena and I am a weaver.
I went to the local art school where I became a weaving enthusiast; after that I explored the beautiful art at the weaving school in Florence with mrs Guidotti, who mastered it.
Then I travelled a lot through Latin America, where weaving is daily routine and a big part of the local culture, learning the techniques of the typical local craftsmanship that I've assimilated by mixing them with the traditional ones of my region.
I like weaving natural fibers, such as wool of our indigenous sheep (the Lamon) and the other three Venetian kinds (Alpagota, Brogna and Foza) and also with vegetable fibers such as linen and hemp.
I'm a member of the "Fea de Lamon", an association which works in the recovery of our typical sheep breed, that was almost in danger of extinction.
I live in Lamon, a beautiful village in the middle of the Belluno Dolomites well known for its typical bean production, there I've an open workshop, where I teach basic weaving courses (using looms with 4 heddles).
I'm looking forward to introducing you to the beauties of my work and of my still authentic, simple and welcoming land.

BASICS OF WEAVING (27/02/2017)
