THE STORY

I am Andrea and I am a potter. In January 2007 I've opened my atelier, a small place at the heart of Verona, cherished by the river Adige, bringing us back to a time made of naturalness and slowness.
My atelier is the result of the artistic creations made of clay, where I exhibit my artworks. My passion for pottery was born from the naturalness and the popularity of this material, that has always been connected to the history of humanity. It reminds me of the simplicity of things, of the artisan handmade work, thus slow and reflective. There where everything starts with an idea, evolving into a project and a creation. A sort of new born and transformation that happens with your hands. A job that gives infinite stylistic and technical opportunities. Over the years I attended many courses to learn the shaping and cooking techniques of traditional pottery. Initially I've done that with the classical electric furnaces, while later I moved to more primitive and unusual cooking using woods in bricks' furnaces. That is how I get to know Raku pottery. Raku is originally from Japan and it's a transformation technique of clay. It gives infinite opportunities and it makes of pure and simple aesthetic its main characteristic.
The cooking is made in rudimentary furnaces, outdoor in few minutes, thanks to the combined action of fire, air and water. What happens is a transformation and a clay's cooking with continuously different outcomes. In this way you can truly see the art of the potter, happening with its amusement with the elements and the creations.
