Roberta is a goldsmith artist who knew what she wanted to do since she was 13 years old. She studied hard and got a diploma in the art of working metal and gold. She soon thereafter left for Vicenza (a city famous for it's goldsmiths) and learned all she knows today, thanks to important artists well known in the area who taught her personally.
"It was a journey that sadly kept me away from my home town. I missed it a lot, so when I was 30 I decided to return home to Otranto. I left a permanent contract and the life I had made for myself up north to return to the heat and folklore of the south, to my things and my city! It was nostalgia and my love for my homeland that made me return to using olive wood and the typical stone from Lecce. That together with the architecture and Salento's typical elements explain my art, the culture of a town and my origins mixing goldsmith techniques with experimentation.
All of this work is done using ordinary materials and non/precious metals, as the real speciality of these pieces lays in the message they send.
Determination, social awareness and the ability to day dream have allowed me to have what I have always wanted. Today I live a happy life creating my collections, recovering and re-interpreting the traditions and history of the area with ancient goldsmith techniques such as microfusion and lost-wax casting (from 3000 a.C.)
I'd be happy to see you in my small workshop and be able to give to you the passion I have for my art!"
