My workshop is located in the heart of Udine, close to one of the most beautiful spots of the Friuli capital city.
The workshop was founded in 1966 by three ladies, and in 1999 the bookbindery was took over with the idea of maintaining and jealously preserve the old, artisanal atmosphere, while adapting some equipment to the new regulations.
The first approach was to understand the book starting from the meaning of its content, to respect it and then cover it properly; in a second moment, while the know-how and technical knowledge increased, the logical evolution was to find new and different solutions. I’ve been lucky enough to work with top class master craftsmen which have been a source of growth and renewal for me, such as working with new materials for instance.
Wood, steel, resin and upholstery fabrics in addition to the paper, the canvas and the classic leather, when combined together are able to create many types of binding and at the same time they are sources of inspiration for new ideas and objects.
All products are unique or made in limited edition, some of them are tailored upon customer request or for special events, however, they are always handmade.
On August 2014 the bookbindery has been recognized by the Region as “Scuola Bottega Artigiana” (Artisanal Workshop and School) and it is therefore a workshop ran by a master craftsman, whose expertise is officially approved.

Questa esperienza è stata offerta (da Confartigianato-Imprese Udine) ad un gruppo di ospiti internazionali, provenienti dalla Svezia e dall'Estonia, in visita a Udine per un meeting progettuale.
Sono tutte rimaste colpite dal calore di questo laboratorio e dalla gentilezza di Eva, l'artigiana. Avere la possibiltà di portarsi a casa un ricordo di questa visita realizzato interamente da loro ha contribuito a renderle ancora più entusiaste! |

È stata un'ottima esperienza!Ho trovato Eva molto professionale e al tempo stesso capace di trasmettere la passione per il suo mestiere. Ho imparato tanti piccoli trucchetti del mestiere che mi saranno utili nel portare avanti il mio nuovo hobby e ho rilegato un bellissimo diario!

Giornata bellissima e molto emozionante. Certo non basta un giorno per imparare tutto, ma ce ne siamo usciti con un "book" rilegato e creato da noi e con la voglia di andare subito alla ricerca di libri "vecchi" da sistemare e telai da costruire. Complimenti a Eva, un'artigiana molto brava, professionale e con tanta passione.

imparare il più possibile su una maestranze che amo ma che non ho mai avuto modo di conoscere da vicino. Eva è una persona educatissima, disponibile e di grande talento. Through this hands-on workshop you will learn how to bind a book.
I will welcome you in my studio and tell you about this amazing art, starting with an explanation of the main techniques and the materials I use everyday.
After this short theoretical lesson you'll be ready to test yourself and you'll be able to realize a personalized diary following a Japanese technique.
Your work will represent a special souvenir of your experience in my lab, you will bring with you the diary on which you can capture your best moment.

This experience has been designed upon a user's requests, and it is organizes as follows: • Theoretical introduction to the classic book binding techniques (how to build a volume, how to work with different folders and how to stick them all together, how to sew and how to approach the frame); • Realization of a diary with Japanese binding; • Display of how to create a 3D booklet
